Welcome to ALTC ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in relation to the ALTC Chrome Extension ("Extension").

Your privacy and control over your data are paramount. We are committed to transparency and adhering to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy requirements. Crucially, the ALTC Extension will only collect personal or sensitive user data after obtaining your explicit, affirmative consent within the Extension's interface for specific, user-facing features.

This policy describes:

  • What data the Extension may handle if you consent.
  • How we use that data only for the approved purposes.
  • How we protect your data.
  • Your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Handle (Only with Your Consent)

The ALTC Extension is designed to function with minimal data access. We only request permissions and handle data that are essential for the features you choose to enable.

Depending on the features you explicitly approve within the Extension, we may handle the following types of data:

  • User Interface Interactions: Actions you take within the ALTC Extension interface itself (e.g., button clicks, settings adjustments). This helps us understand feature usage and improve usability.
  • Web Page Content/URLs (Feature-Specific): Only if required for a specific, user-approved feature (e.g., a feature that analyzes the content of the current active tab you invoke it on), we may handle the URL or content of that specific web page. This collection will require separate, prominent disclosure and your affirmative consent within the Extension UI at the time of use. We do not collect your general browsing history across all sites.
  • Technical Information: Browser type, browser version, operating system, and Extension version. This is used for debugging, compatibility checks, and ensuring the Extension functions correctly.
  • Anonymized Usage Analytics: Aggregated and anonymized data about feature usage patterns (e.g., how often a feature is used, common settings). This data cannot be linked back to an individual user and helps us improve the Extension.

We DO NOT Collect (Unless Explicitly Consented for a Specific Feature):

  • Personally Identifiable Information (PII) like your name, email address, or physical address, unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., for support requests).
  • Sensitive information like financial data, health information, or authentication credentials (passwords).
  • Your web browsing activity across different websites where the Extension is not actively and intentionally used by you.
  • Data from website form fields unless it's essential for a core, user-approved feature and clearly disclosed.

3. How We Use Information (Purpose Limitation)

Any user data handled by the ALTC Extension is used strictly for the following limited purposes, directly related to the user-facing features you approve:

  • Providing Extension Functionality: To enable the specific features you have consented to use.
  • Improving User Experience: Analyzing anonymized usage patterns to identify areas for improvement in the Extension's features and interface.
  • Debugging and Technical Support: Diagnosing and fixing errors, ensuring compatibility, and responding to user support requests (if you initiate contact).

We will NEVER use your personal or sensitive user data for:

  • Serving personalized, re-targeted, or interest-based advertisements.
  • Building profiles of your browsing habits for any purpose other than the direct functionality of the approved feature.
  • Transferring or selling your data to third-party advertisers or data brokers.
  • Any purpose unrelated to providing or improving the core, user-facing functionality of the ALTC Extension that you have consented to.

4. Prominent Disclosure and Affirmative Consent

In line with Chrome Web Store policy, before the Extension handles any personal or sensitive user data (like specific web page content), we will provide a clear, prominent disclosure within the Extension's user interface. This disclosure will explain:

  • What specific data is needed.
  • Why it is needed for the feature you are trying to use.
  • How it will be used.

We will require your affirmative consent (e.g., clicking an "Allow" button) before proceeding with handling that data for that specific instance or feature activation. Consent is not obtained solely through this Privacy Policy or the Chrome Web Store listing.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure (Limited Transfers)

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal or sensitive user data to others. We only transfer user data to third parties under the following limited circumstances, compliant with the Chrome Web Store policy:

  • With Your Consent: If you explicitly authorize us to share data for a specific purpose.
